How to · 3 steps

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open your GIF or video

Drop it in and trim it to the part you want to loop.

  2. 2

    Choose Reverse

In Canvas → Playback, choose Reverse.

  3. 3

    Export

Export a GIF, or MP4 if the destination plays video.

Choose the first frame

Outlook and some previews only show a GIF’s first frame. After reversing, move the playhead to the frame you want people to see and choose Use the current frame.

Keep it short

Reversing holds frames in memory, so trim clips over about 15 seconds first. Typing and scrolling text read oddly backward.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How do I reverse a GIF?
Open it in Lazygif, choose Reverse under Canvas → Playback, and export.
Does a reversed video keep its sound?
No. A reversed MP4 or WebM is exported silent, so nobody hears speech played backward.
Can I pick the first frame after reversing?
Yes. Move the playhead to the frame you want and, under Picture shown first, choose Use the current frame.
